Description
Haven’t you always wanted to learn how to draw properly, without effort, or are you already a pretty good artist with a lot of experience?
Whatever the case, with this competition you can either pass on your knowledge to others or learn from other toonity.com users.
And you don’t need to be a top director to join in. It’s all about having fun but, of course, it’s a great honour if your film is a hit when rated by other users – that’s really something to be proud of.
Manufacturer of writing instruments STABILO has a comprehensive and high quality range of pens and pencils and will even supply the onesyou need to film your own tutorial – free of charge. And, of course, the pens are then yours to keep!
Quick guide:
- Choose the STABILO product you want
- and we’ll send it to you (free of charge, of course).
- You then film a clip on your mobile, digital camera or camcorder
- and then upload it to YouTube (make sure to use the title below and describe it correctly so that we can find your video).
We can’t wait to see the impressive, interesting, informative and funny films that this competition inspires.
It's very simple. Just follow the steps below:

First of all you need a youtube.com account to join in. Maybe you’ve got one already, if not it’s easy to create one right here: www.youtube.com/create_account

Now choose one of the following STABILO pens – one that you’d like to draw with in your film – and put a cross next to the corresponding image.
ATTENTION:
Unfortunately we’ve only a limited number of each pen type that we can send, so it’s a case being quick on the draw! ;-)) – After you participate with one product type, you have to upload a video first to participate with another product later.

STABILO will then send you your pens of choice by post in the next few days. We can only send you the pens if your address details have been entered correctly and in full under “myprofile”.

Now, with the help of a digital camera, a mobile or a camcorder, for example, create an exciting, entertaining and informative tutorial which shows you drawing with the STABILO pen. Make sure you only use the STABILO pen type you chose to do this. If you’re using aquarellable STABILO pens, feel free to use water and a paintbrush too and show off the great effects you can create.
Why not take a look at other drawing tutorials on YouTube? It’ll give you an idea of what it’s all about. You’re welcome to add a commentary or explanations to your film – or leave the soundtrack and let your drawings do the talking. Or go crazy – how about singing or rapping in your video. You can also make use of additional special effects, animations, sounds, music (think about copyright), photos (copyright again!) and video editing programmes. Whatever you do – enjoy yourself!
Just a few tips to make sure your tutorial is a success:
- - Feel free to show the STABILO pen packaging at the start of the video so that people can see which product you’re drawing with.
- - If you want to, you can always show and introduce yourself in the video too.
- - The film should have a logical progression i.e. a beginning (introducing the pen), a middle (drawing, explanation) and an end (arrive at a conclusion or show the finished picture)
- - Keep lighting levels in mind so that people can see what you’re drawing properly.
- - If you explain something during filming, make sure you speak clearly and understandably (speak at an appropriate volume and try to avoid disruptive background noise).
- - The film should not be so long that the audience gets “bored” – a “snappy” 1 minute film is better than a 5 minute one which shows you nothing you’ve not seen before.
- After filming, save the clip onto your PC with the help of a memory card or a USB cable.
- As soon as you’ve created an account and logged in at www.youtube.com you can upload your film under "upload video". Make sure to fill in the YouTube upload template as follows (see screenshot below) so that we can find your film amongst all the others:
- Title: toonity.com drawing tutorial with STABILO pens
- Description: STABILO pen used, describe the picture + state your toonity.com nickname (make sure to write it accurately).
- Video category: tips and tricks
- Tags: film, tutorial, drawing, STABILO, pen, toonity, manga, comic –you can put in anything that comes to mind or that fits
Please also note the youtube.com upload rules, e.g. with reference to maximum file size for the film etc.!
IMPORTANT:
We might think your film is so good that we want to use it for other purposes in the future (e.g. including it on the STABILO website www.stabilo.com etc.) That’s why, by participating in this competition and uploading your video in the category cited below, you automatically hand over all rights of use to the film (internationally, irrespective of media and without time limit).
Please do not show pictures/drawings or photos of third parties in your film without prior written consent. Furthermore, you may not use music by another artist for which you do not hold the copyright.
As soon as you make use of copyrighted music, for example, in your video, YouTube will block the video. In this event, you can select and use new music using YouTube’s "audio swap function".
