„Take part in the toonity.com mascot drawing competition“

It's very simple:

1. Come up with a mascot that is in tune with toonity.com and could represent the comic community. Please make sure that it would be possible to make the mascot into a plushie at a later date (this means it can’t be too detailed or be too intricate as it would ultimately have to be reproduced in a more simplified form). The toonity.com mascot could be male or female (a human character/manga or anime figure) or have no gender. Perhaps it’s even an animal that would suit our community?
2. Come up with a name too, and perhaps a complete profile for the toonity.com mascot (with background, species etc.) and note both in the heading or in the description of your picture. If your mascot description is too long, you can also detail it in the first comment.
3. Scan your drawing or photograph it using a digital camera. Make sure that your picture is oriented correctly - if not, your picture will not be eligible for the competition. This functionality is made easy with graphics programmes such as Paint or Gimp.
4. Save the drawing on your PC.
5. Register at toonity.com, or if you are registered already, log in with your nickname and password at toonity.com.
6. Upload your drawing onto the toonity.com server under "MYWORK/MYDRAWINGS".
7. Select the toonity.com mascot competition gallery and release the picture.

ATTENTION:

1. Only pictures that you have drawn yourself, which deal with the topic “toonity.com mascot”, are in with a winning chance! Please don’t forget to give your mascot a name!
2. The user ratings will not be made public during the competition. (This is to prevent ‘fakers’ from giving themselves good ratings and others bad ratings). We will only publicise all the users who rated comics, their ratings and scores once the competition has ended, when we will declare the winners!
3. It’s not just the user votes that count – the toonity.com jury will also judge the drawings on their originality and how appropriate they would be for making a plushie before deciding which idea deserves a prize.
4. “Sawyer”, one of the users, will make the best idea into a “plushie” (a figure sewn together out of plush, fabric and other materials) and send it to the winner.
   Info: The realisation of the “plushie” can take a few weeks, because it is an extensive manual work.
5. At this time we cannot guarantee that a toonity.com mascot will actually be taken on and used by toonity.com. The idea must be something really exceptionally good for us to decide on it. In addition, small alterations could be made to your designs in the event they are used.

 

 

• What is a plushie and what does our user “Sawyer” have to do with them?

A plushie is a sewn plush/soft toy or a doll of a character which often originates from anime or manga. These plushies are very popular in Japan where people fish for them using crane catchers; sometimes known as UFO-catchers.

Sawyer has been enthusiastically sewing all kinds of plushies since 2006.

Wir gratulieren unseren Gewinnern des Maskottchenwettbewerbs. Unsere Userin "sawyer" wird das Maskottchen auf dem 1. Platz in den nächsten Wochen in Handarbeit herstellen und dem Gewinner zukommen lassen. Ob wir das Maskottchen in größerem Rahmen in toonity.com verwenden, werden wir noch diskutieren. Es wird auf jeden Fall auch bald im Comic Creator mit verschiedenen Posen zu finden sein, so dass ihr es auch in Euren Comics verwenden könnt.
